A classy Tchaikovsky Spectacular may seem like an oxymoron, but that’s what the audience got Saturday night at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater and it didn’t seem to mind. To the contrary. Carl St.Clair and the Pacific Symphony kept undue bombast at bay, at least until the very end, when the strictures of Tchaikovsky Spectaculars demand it.
